High School Counseling
Counseling at the secondary level of the American Community School means different things to different people, although all roles of the counselor are supportive and attempt to guide young people through their challenges; academically, socially and emotionally.
Some of the main responsibilities of the counselor include advising on course selections, academic advising with difficult classes, personal counseling, college and university counseling, and introduction to a web based program called Naviance with accompanying activities during the high school experience. The goals are to enlighten young adults of increased self awareness, learning style analysis, personality type inventory, career exploration and concluding with university and college selections that best match a student’s abilities and aspirations.
The ACS guidance program is comprehensive and developmental in its approach in meeting the academic needs of our students while providing for opportunities for appropriate social and emotional growth.
