Message from the Principal
Dear Parents of ECE (Early Childhood Education PK1, PK2, KG) Children,
Welcome to the 2006-07 school year. I know your child is excited about starting school and coming to ACS. Here is some information to help you make this a smooth transition. The calendar and school-supply lists are both available on this website.
PK1 (3 Year Old Program): On the first day of the school year, August 13, the PK1 class will have the children for 2 hours. For those families whose last name begins A-H, please bring your child to Room E11, next to the Elementary Office at 8:00 AM. Please plan to come in to see the room and help your child with their school supplies. Nurse Hiyam will be checking that each student has current immunization records and a short parent/child activity will take place. Then you may leave, coming back at 10:00 to pick up your child. The second group, with last names from I-Z, is asked to come from 10:30-12:30 and do the same as the earlier group. Please send a healthy snack with your child and label his/her backpack, lunch box and clothing. The supplies do not have to be labeled. The purpose for these two-hour sessions is to help your child adjust to the new classroom, the new teachers and his or her classmates. There will be no bus service for PK1 on August 13. We hope this schedule will provide a good transition for our three-year olds and their parents!
Starting on the second day, August 14, all PK1 children will be in school from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM through August 24. Beginning August 27, they will stay until 1:00 and will need to bring both a lunch and a snack. Bus service, for those who have requested it, will begin on August 14. A parent or other adult must meet the bus when it reaches home. Kindly remember that all PK1 students need to be toilet trained prior to attending ACS.
PK2 and KG: The children in PK2 and KG will attend school on the first week from 8:00 AM until noon. They will need to bring a healthy snack and have their backpack and lunch box labeled. Supplies should be brought in on the first day if possible. Beginning August 20, the KG and PK2 children will go home at 2:00, their regular dismissal time, and will need to bring in both a lunch and a snack. The KG room is located across the hall from the Elementary Office. The PK2 classroom is located next to the ECE playground. Bus service, for those who have requested it, will begin on August 13. A parent or other adult must meet the bus when it reaches home.
