Elementary School Supply Lists: 2010-2011

Parents: please note that these supplies will be kept here at the school. In order to establish good homework habits, please have supply of pencils, an eraser, ruler, and colored pencils at home also.

Establishing a quiet place at a desk at home stocked with these necessary supplies will prove beneficial to your child's organization, motivation, and ultimately their learning.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN 1

Every student is required to bring 

  • WATER BOTTLE (labeled with name)
  • BACKPACK (labeled with name and large enough to hold a take home folder and a lunchbox)

These supplies are for the classroom and will be pooled. Please do not put your child's name on these supplies.

  • 4 glue sticks
  • 2 8ct.  jumbo crayons
  • 8 colored pencils
  • 2 markers 8 or 12 pk
  • 2 thick pencils,
  • Plastic cups
  • 1 pkg. ziploc bags (medium size)

All the above items can be purchased at  ISTIKLAL , a big school supply and stationary store  in Sweifeyah. There is also Sweifeyah bookstore around the corner from Istiklal on the same side of the road as the corner supermarket. And DOCULAND, on Abdullah Ghosheh  which connects 7th circle to Mecca St. All of these have a good selection of school supplies on this list.

KINDERGARTEN

GRADE 1

  • 1 composition book (Any kind)

GRADE 2

  • 1 small plastic pencil sharpener that catches the shavings
  • 1 small cloth/soft plastic pencil case
  • 6 heavy duty erasers
  • 1 box of colored pencils (12 colors or more)
  • 2 boxes of wide colored washable markers
  • 2 boxes of narrow tipped colored washable markers
  • 4 narrow tipped black markers "sharpies"
  • 1 box Crayola 32 crayons
  • 4 large Elmer's glue sticks
  • 1 bottle Elmer's glue
  • 3 black composition books (100) pages
  • 8 two pocket plastic folders without rubber bands
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • 1 ruler with inches on one side and centimeters on the other side
  • 1 3-ring binder with storage pocket on inside cover
  • 100 clear page protectors
  • 2 plastic "envelopes" with snap closure size A4

GRADE 3

  • 4 dozen # 2 pencils - (Not mechanical)- high quality with eraser tips
  • 3 erasers (large size)
  • 1 box colored pencils (12 +/ box) high quality
  • 1 fine point Black Sharpie markers or any fine point black   permanent marker
  • 2 red and 2 green ballpoint pens
  • 1 large glue stick (Elmer's brand or UHU brand preferred)
  • 3 spiral notebooks-lined 70-100 pages only, without dividers (8 1/2x 11 inch or A4)
  • 2 composition notebooks (approx. 9 x 7 inches) - lined
  • 300 sheets 3-hole punched, wide-rule, loose leaf binder paper with left and right margins (must be 8 ½ x11)
  • 1 pair of high quality scissors
  • 1 ruler- centimeters & inches (must be 12 inches long)
  • 1 good quality enclosed pencil sharpener
  • 4 2-pocket folders

  • 3 thick highlighters (different colors)
  • 12 large glue sticks (or 24 small glue sticks)
  • 1 bottle white or clear liquid school glue or glue pen
  • 8 spiral notebooks, lined pages (8 1/2 inches by 11   inches or A4 size about 60-100 pages)
    • MUST BE SEPARATE NOTEBOOKS - not notebooks with dividers
  • 2 composition notebooks, lined pages (approximately 9 x  7 inches)
  • 2 pairs of scissors (1 to keep at school, 1 for home for school projects)
  • 1 ruler, centimeters and inches (30 cm/12 inches)

GRADE 5

Every student is required to bring: WATER BOTTLE (labeled with name), BACKPACK (labeled with name)

NOTEBOOKS: by fifth grade the quality and size of the notebook is important. Notebooks need to last. A notebook with a vertical margin on the left side of each page will allow for good organization and note taking.

  • 2  Composition Notebooks  (200 pages, 7"x 9")
  • 3 SPIRAL Notebooks (100 pages, 8 1/2"x11")
  • 1 inch 3-ring binder
  • 2 dozen (# 2, good quality) pencils with eraser tips
  • 2 green and 2 red ball point or gel ink pens
  • 2 highlighters (yellow and a second color)
  • 2 erasers
  • 1 pair scissors (pointed end, steel cutting blades, not primary size
  • 1 box good quality colored pencils (at least 12 count)
  • 1 good quality enclosed pencil sharpener (Steadtler or Maped are best)
  • 2 large glue sticks (UHU is best)
  • 1 white liquid school glue (4oz)
  • 3 extra fine tip black SHARPIE permanent markers
  • 1 long 12" ruler (needs BOTH cm and inches)
  • a heavy duty folder for Homework (durable, strong plastic that will last)
  • a 2-pocket folder (durable, any design or picture)
  • 1 bottle white-out correction fluid
  • 1 Thumb Drive
  • A PENCIL CASE  Large enough to hold: 3 pencils, 1 highlighter, Sharpie marker, green pen, red pen, set of colored pencils, pencil sharpener, eraser.
