Richard Krajczar’s Legacy at ACS
Richard Krajczar
Before his arrival, the ACS mascot was the Falcon and the school colors were blue and white. At that time, Richard was a founding member of the EMAC activities league and there were three other schools in the conference with the same mascot and colors. He somehow learned that when the American International School in Kabul had shut down due to the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, all of the school's sports equipment was boxed and stored. He worked with the US State Department to have all of the uniforms, equipment, etc. from Kabul shipped to Jordan. Their mascot was the Scorpion and their colors were black and gold. And this is how ACS Amman came to become the black and gold home of the Scorpions!

Visa: Passport holders from most countries can obtain visa-on-arrival at Queen Alia International Airport. Jordan issues visas to U.S. citizens for a fee at most international ports of entry and at most international land border crossings upon arrival. Multiple-entry visas are only available from Jordanian embassies/consulates. The cost if 40JD ($56.60 USD) for a single entry and can be paid by cash or credit card. ATM machines are also available. You are advised to check the official Visit Jordan website for the latest list of countries and their visa requirements. For more information on visas, click here.
Transportation: Taxis in Amman are safe and readily available. They are yellow, operated by meter and can be arranged though the hotel or periodically drive by on the street by the school. Uber and Careem are also widely used throughout the city. They are very reliable and often preferred over taxis. ACS is often confused with Modern American School, so we suggest telling the driver "8th circle, Royal Automobile Club." For more information about transportation in Jordan, click here.
