HS Clubs & Activities - Spring 2018

Please use the links below to register for the HS Clubs/Activities. You will receive an email by Saturday, February 3rd confirming your enrollment in the club(s) that you have signed up for.  Please make note that by signing up for a club you are committed to attending all sessions.

Registration Timeline:

  • Registration for each activity begins on Thursday, January 25th at 5pm. You will find the registration links below in the table of offerings.
  • Registration is ongoing and closes on Thursday, February 1st at 10pm.
  • Club assignments will be emailed on Saturday, February 3rd.

Jazz Band Join the "Jazz Band" if you play a band or rock instrument. We will be performing high-energy, exciting rock songs that will pump up a crowd at events such as pep rallies, assemblies, and community functions. This is the activity for you if you like to play music in a social setting and enjoy the thrill of performance.

Gardening Club We'll grow flowers, herbs, fruits and vegetables from seeds and cuttings in the greenhouse and move out to the garden when the weather gets nice. The club will research new techniques about how to care for our plants and manage our garden. This semester the gardening club we are already growing long stem roses from cuttings, carnations, gardenias, curry trees, herbs, fruits, vegetables and much more! Students can do their own gardening project or participate in a currently existing project. No green thumb required - just an interest in nature. Mr. Jahn 9 - 12 Outdoor Garden Space

Scorpion Booster Club This is your chance to work on improving school spirit, promoting ACS athletics and activities events and developing new and exciting opportunities for our students. Scorpion Booster Club is a fun way to give back to the Scorpion Community. Please make note that as a member you will be expected to volunteer on weekends and weeknights when we have school events. Dungeons & Dragons Club

Dungeons and Dragons is the world's first role-playing game. In D&D, you are no longer a student at ACS; you are a burly half-orc barbarian raging through the kingdom in search of fame and riches; you are a dark-elf rogue, a commitment to revenging the death of your family at the hands of a marauding kobold army. You make the choices. The dice determine your fate. Come be part of the most famous RPG in the world!

Gourmet Scorpions

Cooking class is a hands-on, fun, delicious, and healthy way to learn to cook. You'll learn the recipes and how to cook 10 different dishes. With the skills you develop in this class you can impress your friends and parents in the kitchen.

Yearbook Club Would you like to contribute to the 2017-2018 Yearbook? If you have taken Photography or Digital Art, this is a great opportunity to continue to develop your skills by working on projects for the yearbook. Students in this activity will also be asked to attend events around school to photograph outside the club time. Work produced in this club is for use in this year’s yearbook. Media Arts & Photography Students will work on their own self-directed recording, composition, digital art, or photography projects in the computer lab and recording studio. This is a great place for photographers, artists, instrumentalists, songwriters, vocalists, producers, and rappers to collaborate and produce projects. SAISA Band & Choir This club is only students interested in attending SAISA Music in Chennai, India, April 2018. For choir: all interested choir students are encouraged to sign up, but to travel to Chennai an audition process is required. For band: students not in a regular band class must speak with Mr. Housego directly about participation before signing up. Mr. Housego/

Ultimate Frisbee Come out and practice old skills or begin to master the new skills of Ultimate Frisbee—beginners more than welcome! Played by two seven-player teams with a high-tech plastic disc, Ultimate Frisbee is a high-paced game that combines the non-stop movement and athletic endurance of soccer with the aerial passing skills of American football. The object of the game is to score by catching a pass in the opponent’s end zone. (Edit this previous sentence is the blurb is too long.) Known for promoting the healthy spirit of competition and sportsmanship, Ultimate Frisbee is the perfect game regardless of your age, skill level, experience, or gender! Rock Star Workshop Series

Got a rock band? Want to perform in Battle of the Bands? This is preparation for the Battle of the Bands and will take place Saturday afternoons. The workshops will include special presentations by guest artists that will help you with your performance as well as time to practice in the studio, and time on stage to practice in the performance space. This club will run on Saturdays 12:00-3:00 and will end with the Battle of the Bands show (date of show TBA).
