Principal's Message
Welcome to the ACS Middle School!
Hello, I am Billy Thomas, and I’m thrilled to join the American Community School of Amman as the new Middle School Principal.
With over 20 years in education across four countries—and 11 of those as a school administrator—I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide variety of international communities to support meaningful learning and growth. Most recently, I served as a Middle School Principal at Colegio Nueva Granada in Bogotá, Colombia, where I focused on building strong, student-centered programs and collaborative school cultures.
My wife, Jaime, will also be joining the ACS leadership team as well as the Director of Student Support Services. We’re excited to be moving to Amman with our two daughters and our dog, and we’re all looking forward to becoming a part of the vibrant ACS community and experiencing the beauty and history of Jordan together.
I believe Middle School is one of the most exciting, challenging, and rewarding stages in a young person’s life. It’s a time of rapid growth, curiosity, and identity-building. I believe strongly in creating a safe, welcoming, and joyful environment where students feel empowered to take risks, explore their passions, and build strong connections with their peers and teachers. I’m deeply committed to making every student feel seen, supported, and inspired as they navigate these formative years.

Program Overview
In middle school, learning comes to life through hands-on experiences, collaboration, investigation, and action-taking. We believe that education is more than just memorizing facts and figures - it's about fostering a lifelong love of learning, nurturing critical thinking skills, and empowering students to become active, engaged citizens of the world.
Our program is also deeply committed to your child's social-emotional development. We prioritize social-emotional learning and skill development as they are the foundation for emotional regulation, empathy, and interpersonal skills. By adopting a balanced approach, we equip children to achieve as learners who take care of themselves and others.
