Principal's Message
Welcome to the ACS Middle School!
Hello, I am Billy Thomas, and I am honored to be entering my second year as your Middle School Principal at the American Community School of Amman.
After a fantastic first year of getting to know this incredible community, I am more energized than ever to continue the work we’ve started. My career in education has spanned over 20 years across four countries—with 12 of those now in school administration—and my experience last year at ACS has only reinforced my passion for building strong, student-centered programs and collaborative cultures.
My wife, Jaime, continues her work on the leadership team as the Director of Student Support Services, and our daughters and our dog have truly settled into life in Amman. Over the past year, our family has fallen in love with the warmth of the ACS community and the breathtaking beauty and history of Jordan. It has truly begun to feel like home.
I believe that Middle School is one of the most exciting, challenging, and rewarding stages in a young person’s life. It is a time of rapid growth, curiosity, and identity-building. Our team believes in the creation of a safe, welcoming, and joyful environment where students feel empowered to take risks, explore their passions, and build strong connections with their peers and teachers.
As we look toward the 2026-2027 school year, I am committed to ensuring that every student feels seen, supported, and inspired. I look forward to another year of partnership with our families as we guide our Scorpions through these incredible, amazing years.

Program Overview
In middle school, learning comes to life through hands-on experiences, collaboration, investigation, and action-taking. We believe that education is more than just memorizing facts and figures - it's about fostering a lifelong love of learning, nurturing critical thinking skills, and empowering students to become active, engaged citizens of the world.
Our program is also deeply committed to your child's social-emotional development. We prioritize social-emotional learning and skill development as they are the foundation for emotional regulation, empathy, and interpersonal skills. By adopting a balanced approach, we equip children to achieve as learners who take care of themselves and others.
