October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and in celebration of this month, ACS has started selling pink hattas (scarves)! Proceeds will go directly to providing screening services for less privileged women in Jordan. Students and staff are committed to raising awareness and have set up several other fund raising initiatives during this month.

           On September 21, 2016, ACS celebrated the International Day of Peace. The collective power of peaceful thoughts and actions were felt throughout the school. Students gathered in the morning for peace circles where they shared their wishes for peace and their dreams for the future of our planet. The ACS staff has been diligently working with outside consultants to prepare for the opening of the swimming pool. This training has included program development, safety, and emergency response. We also invited swim instructors from other local schools as we help create and promote a culture of swim safety.

In our continuing effort to promote wellness at ACS, we have designated Wednesdays to focus on our mental and physical health. To promote and support this healthy climate, staff can be dressed in wellness gear on Wednesday if they are prioritizing time to exercise. These activities happen after school or on breaks.

What a way to welcome back the school year! Lots of splashes, giggles and fun! Our Back to School Picnic was a great success!
