Theron Tate
Athletic and Activities Director

Welcome to the American Community School of Amman Athletic Department!

The ACS Athletic Program prides itself on providing our students a top notch competitive opportunity while emphasizing good sportsmanship and personal integrity. Our Coaching staff, booster club and parent community provide phenomenal support to our student athletes and are the foundation of the Scorpion Program. With competitive and participation based teams in 14 different sports, ACS students are almost always involved in numerous activities.  Go Scorpions!

ACS Scorpion Teams participate in two leagues:

  • AAC (Amman Athletic Conference) provides local competition for the school’s U14, U16 and Varsity teams.
  • SAISA (South Aisa Inter-School Association provides season culminating tournaments for our Varsity teams with ten other international schools in Asia (www.saisaleague.org).

Please check the links in the Athletics section for schedules, sport specific information and our department policies.

Theron Tate has been the Athletic Director at ACS since 2012. Before coming to Amman he was the Athletic Director and Outdoor Pursuits Coordinator at The International School of Moshi in Tanzania and was a PE teacher at Lahainaluna HS on the Island of Maui in Hawaii. He spent his collegiate athletic career playing tennis at Eastern Washington University and still enjoys hitting the court. Currently his favorite way to spend his time is chasing his son and daughter around the playground and traveling around the beautiful country of Jordan.
